In an effort to improve the experience in Star Citizen Alpha 3.18, we have been diligently implementing hotfixes to address the most pressing issues, and while we have seen some improvements, there is still more work to be done.
One issue that has been negatively impacting our database is the large number of entitlement calls being made for player vehicles at startup. "Entitlements," meaning things such as ships and other items that are tied to your character and account. To alleviate this, we are implementing a solution that we hope will significantly reduce strain on the servers and help us provide a smoother service for a players to enjoy the 'Verse.
What is changing?
The change we are making affects how you obtain your vehicles and ships when logging into the game for the first time. Instead of these being immediately entitled to your home location in-game, ships purchased on our website will now be available at any ASOP terminal and labeled as "Deliverable". To use your ships or vehicles, you will need to go and claim them first.
How to Receive your Ships
To gain access to your ships you will need to:
- Head to any ASOP terminal.
- Once there, note which ships have the Deliverable status.
- Claim your ship by pressing the Deliver button.
This particular function works similarly to the standard insurance claim, but is free and takes only about 20 seconds. Remember to keep hangar restrictions in mind when doing this, such as whether or not a location allows ground vehicles or has room for larger ships.
We believe this subtle change will make a positive impact on the database, resulting in a lighter start-up and overall improved stability. Our teams will continue to closely monitor the situation and work on additional solutions to further improve the Star Citizen experience for all.
