You may receive an error message on the Lumberyard screen that your graphics driver is outdated, even if you have the latest driver. This is a known issue, and currently is under investigation and fixes by our development and QA teams!
When this error pops, you may see the following on the Lumberyard screen. The message is incorrect, but the trigger is detecting an issue! This issue tends to occur on systems with an Integrated GPU (like Intel) and a graphics card (Nvidia or AMD). The Integrated GPU is defaulting for the game, instead of the high performance card.
Use the following information to ensure the correct card is in use for your system. If the error continues, please let us know:

Nvidia Cards
- Completely close the Launcher.
- Make sure you have the latest Nvidia driver installed.
- Open Nvidia Control Panel.
- Click 3D Settings > Manage 3D Settings.
- Click the Program Settings tab.
- On the Global Settings tab, locate and select the Preferred graphics processor. From the list, select High performance Nvidia Processor.
- Click Apply.
- You can also add and configure Star Citizen in the Program Settings list:
- Click the Program Settings tab.
- Click Add and browse to the Star Citizen exe: (install drive)\Program Files\Roberts Space Industries\Star Citizen\LIVE\Bin64.
- For the preferred graphics processor, select High performance Nvidia Processor.
- Click Apply.
- Under Settings, click Set Physx configuration.
- From the drop down menu, select your Nvidia graphics card for the processor.
- Click Apply.
- If you overclock your graphics card, you may also need to reset to defaults.
- Try launching the game again.
AMD Cards
Catalyst Control Center and drivers may vary greatly. This information may not be exactly correct for all versions. If you are changing this setting on a Laptop, make sure you have high or full power. Low power settings may block or not provide options.
- Completely close the Launcher.
- Make sure you have the latest AMD driver installed.
- Open AMD Radeon Settings or control center.
- Select Preferences, then Radeon Additional Settings.
- Expand Power and click Switchable Graphics Global Settings.
- Select High performance for the Graphic Setting. Click Apply.
- Click Switchable Graphics Application Settings.
- Select the Star Citizen exe from the list. If not listed, click Add Application and locate the Star Citizen exe: (install drive)\Program Files\Roberts Space Industries\Star Citizen\LIVE\Bin64.
- Select High performance for the Graphic Setting. Click Apply.
NOTE: For AMD, you can also track the GPU being used per application through the Switchable Graphics Application Monitor. - If you overclock your graphics card, you may also need to reset to defaults.
- Make sure all settings are saved and close the Control Panel.
- Try launching the game again.
