In order for citizens to get to their fleet of ships, they need a place to store them. Within the 'verse this will be in a hangar, be it a personal one or a temporary storage location.

What do I need to access my hangar?
To access your hangar, you must have a Roberts Space Industries (RSI) account and a pledge game package which includes a ship and a digital download of Star Citizen. Any available game package will work!
Where can I find my Hangar?
Enter the game and the Persistent Universe (PU). If it's your first time logging in you will need to select a place of residence from the available options. This location is where your personal hangar will be physically located. As this cannot be changed, select wisely!
Once in game, head to the spaceport of your home city.
If you require a hangar while away from home, you will be given access to a temporary one for your needs at the local spaceport area.
What types of Hangars are available?
There are two types of hangars: Personal and Public.
Personal hangars will be available specifically for you and your ships, and will be located at your place of residence. The style of the hangar itself will match the aesthetic of the location you chose when beginning the game. These will be persistent locations and in the future citizens will be able to decorate and customize the interior in various ways if they wish.
Public hangars are available for your use when you are either away from home or you retrieve a ship that cannot fit in your personal hangar for some reason, such as for large ships acquired after your personal hangar size was assigned. These are managed by the spaceport and thus are not customizable.
What size hangar will I have?
When entering the PU for the first time, after choosing your primary residence the game will automatically assign a hangar size based on your pledges. The hangar you are given will be able to house the largest ship in your fleet.
Hangar Size | Ship Size Examples |
---|---|
Small | Mirai Fury, RSI Aurora LX |
Medium | RSI Ursa, Anvil Retaliator |
Large |
Drake Caterpillar, MISC Starfarer |
Extra Large |
Aegis Reclaimer, Origin 890 Jump |
Will I be able to upgrade my hangar to a larger size?
There is no way to gain access to a specific hangar type or size or upgrade to a larger one, but there are discussions underway for options to do this in the future.
Pledging for a larger ship or purchasing one in-game with aUEC after your hangar has been assigned will not affect the size of your hangar if you have already chosen your place of residence.
Can friends visit my hangar?
As hangars are a physical location in the 'verse, other players that are in your party can visit your hangar. This way, your friends and crew can also board a ship with you or help sort out freight and cargo.
If someone that isn't supposed to be there somehow shows up, they will be removed by security.
How do I spawn a ship?
Head to any ASOP Terminal and request a ship be delivered and/or retrieved. It will let you know where the ship has been sent. Take note of the hangar pad if it was not sent to your personal hangar!
If you are in your personal hangar, there is an ASOP terminal available near the elevators if you don't want to use a public one. The main floor area of the hangar will be marked off while the ship is brought in.
How do I decorate and customize my hangar?
As of the first iteration of this system with patch 3.24, the nodes and locations where hangar flair and other things can be placed are currently not available. Keep an eye on future notes for when these will be implemented!
