Throughout a player's journey in the 'verse, they will come into contact with all sorts of people that are making their way through what Star Citizen has to offer in their own way. As is the case with most things online these days, sometimes there will be people that are simply not conducive to a good experience with enjoying your time with us. We do take violations of our Rules of Conduct seriously and examine all reports that we receive of players flouting the rules.
The block feature in game is a way for players to gain additional moderation tools to help shape their own in-game experience when interacting with others. Let's go over how to use this function to help clean up your comms!
Keep in mind! The existence of this feature does NOT give players leave to openly violate the Rules of Conduct!
All players must still abide by these rules of common decency and RSI Support will take action against any violators. This feature simply gives players another way to help moderate their in-game experience by limiting how much bad actors can interact with them. If you encounter someone breaking the Rules of Conduct, report them to us and then use the block feature to remove their ability to contact you further.
Blocking Another Player
To get started, here are the steps to access the block function:
- Locate the handle of the offending player in the Comms list in your mobiGlas.
- Right click the name.
- Select Block Player from the presented options.
Should you encounter the player again in your comms channels, there will be an icon indicating that they have been blocked next to their name in the channel member list.
Unblocking a Player
If you and said player have managed to make amends in some fashion and wish to resume contact, the process to remove the block has a few extra steps.
Unblocking In-Game
- Join the same server as the blocked player.
- Locate the handle of the blocked player in the Comms list in your mobiGlas.
- Right click the name.
- Select the Unblock Player option from the presented options.
Unblocking via Spectrum
- Login to your RSI Account on the website.
- Click the COMMUNITY option at the top.
- Under Stay In Touch, select Spectrum from the list.
- Once Spectrum has opened, click the gear icon to the left of your account profile picture.
- Select Blocked Users from the options under ACCOUNT SETTINGS.
- Click UNBLOCK for any players that you wish to communicate with again.
What effects will this have?
This will do the following things:
- The blocked player will be removed from your friend's list, if they were on it.
- Chat messages, including direct private messages, will no longer show in the Comms window.
- Voice comms from the player will not be played.
- Party invites from the player will be blocked.
- Friend requests from the player will be blocked.
Limitations
While this feature is designed to prevent harassment and interactions with other negative sorts, it will not prevent you from encountering a blocked player out in the 'verse. They will not be able to chat at you, but otherwise they can still interact in other ways if it comes to that, such as combat.
In the general play experience, it's unlikely that you will randomly encounter someone a second time as this would require both of you not only being online at the same time, but also on the same server and shard. If someone continues to actively follow you around and attempt to disrupt your Star Citizen experience in other ways, please report it to us.
