The Virtual Reality (VR) feature that is currently under experimental testing within Star Citizen allows players to engage with the 'verse in a brand new immersive way! Enabling this feature is very easy and done through the RSI Launcher. Make certain you have the most up to date version of the launcher before proceeding.
VR Initial Setup
To enable the usage of VR and automatic detection of any VR peripherals you may have setup, follow these steps:
- Exit the game if it is currently running.
- Open the RSI Launcher.
- Click on the RSI logo with the arrow in the upper left to open the menu.
- Select the Settings option, as shown in the image above.
- In the Settings page, select Games from the list on the left.
- Select the game environment version (LIVE, PTU, etc.) to enable VR mode on.
- Locate the VR Support option and toggle it on.
Confirming VR Mode
Once this mode has been enabled, there will be an indicator icon and text below the Game Environment selection option on the main RSI Launcher window.
Disabling VR Mode
If you need to turn VR mode off for any reason, such as troubleshooting or you simply wish to play without it, this can also be done via the RSI Launcher without needing to enter the game. This can be very helpful when trying to resolve certain issues and troubleshoot the game in general.
Follow these steps to turn off VR mode:
- Exit Star Citizen if the game is running.
- Open the RSI Launcher.
- Click on the gear icon next to the Game Environment selector.
- Select Disable VR mode from the pop-up menu.
Troubleshooting and Feedback
As this feature is still being tested and implemented, we do expect some hurdles and bumps in the road during the life of the testing and future iterations of the feature. It's important that feedback, suggestions, and any issues that you encounter are directed to the proper place to be reviewed quickly.
