What is a Bricked Item?
A bricked item is a ship, vehicle, or another piece of equipment or item that has been rendered inert and unusable in some way. Above, you can see a poor, abandoned Argo ATLS which has been bricked. These ships/vehicles gain a very "worn down" look to set them apart from working models when viewed in game.
You can also check at an ASOP Terminal to see the status of a ship or vehicle. There will be an indication that a copy of the ship has been bricked.
What causes the bricked state?
Generally, this happens in two circumstances:
- An insurance claim has been filed on a ship/vehicle, which results in any current copy of the ship and any components on it being bricked when the new replacement ship is created.
- When a pledge is refunded or reclaimed for store credit, any items from that pledge will become bricked.
How to Deal With Bricked Items
For ships and vehicles in this state, head to an ASOP Terminal and locate the ship(s) in the list. There will be a scrap icon available for any ship that has been delivered. If it's not available at the terminal within your hangar, try at one of the terminals near the hangar elevators in the spaceport. Use this option to get rid of any bricked ships and clean up your ship list. Before doing this, you will be able to go onboard and retrieve any remaining cargo if there was any left in the hold. Make sure to check first!
For other items, they can be discarded through the use of a freight elevator to send them into space. Alternately, if you have a ship that you are intending to scrap, placing the items in the ship before scrapping it will work too. We're working on better solutions for getting rid of these items and resolving some of the current issues with doing so. We recommend giving feedback on this matter on Spectrum and the Issue Council, especially if all attempts to get rid of these items fail.
