There are rare cases where specific programs may conflict with the RSI Launcher or game client and prevent it from running properly.
It is difficult to form a list, but if you are running into constant issues with consistently launching the game or persistent and pervasive game client crashes within the first five minutes of play, considering turning off other running programs and applications and trying again.
Examples of common types of programs that might interfere with the launcher:
- VPN services.
- Anti-Virus/Anti-Malware programs.
- Graphics enhancing or altering programs like ReShade.
- Windows' XBox Game Bar
If nothing else seems to work to fix your launcher troubles, temporarily disable and exit other programs that you have running and then try the RSI Launcher again.
If it works, re-enable programs again until the problem presents itself once more. We do not recommend totally or permanently disabling your security programs, but whitelisting the Launcher and Star Citizen within such programs can help if they are the ones causing troubles.
Though extremely rare, sometimes simply having certain applications installed may also cause troubles, which is much harder to identify.
A conflict like this that our Tech Support Agents identified in the past was with Sonic Studio 3 / Sonic Studio Virtual Mixer which needed to be fully uninstalled for the RSI Launcher to properly function.
