If your Launcher is stuck checking for updates, and never fully downloads a manifest and installs, you may need to clear the cache and make a few other changes.
Clear the Launcher cache
The Launcher has two cache folders to help open and load faster. When you have stuck issues like this, you may need to clear the cache to get you back in business.
- Right click the Windows button and select Run.
- Enter and run: %appdata%\rsilauncher\logs A folder view opens.
- Select and delete the Cache and GPUCache folders.
- Clear the trash.
Try running the Launcher to see if it clears and continues through to fully download the manifest, check your files, and finish installing.
You may also want to make sure the drive you are installing to has enough space. The Launcher is not fully checking available disk space at this time.
Multiple Launchers running
It's possible you may have multiple Launchers open. By default, the RSI Launcher only minimizes to the system tray when you click X to close. You may want to check and close any additional Launchers.
Click the System Tray near the date and time on the Windows task bar. You may see multiple RSI icons for each open launcher. Right click on an icon and select Quit to close extras. Or you can open the Windows Task Manager to find and close extra Launchers.
To close the Launcher when clicking X:
- Open and login to your Launcher.
- Click Settings.
- Scroll down to the option Quit launcher when window is closed.
- Click the box to enable.
Modify settings for throttled or slower networks
You may need to change the download speed, the network may be getting interrupted:
- Open and login to your Launcher.
- Click Settings.
- To reduce the number of connections, click the drop -down for Concurrent downloads. Choose a lower amount, like 15 or 10 to start.
- To reduce the amount of data transferred per connection, click the drop-down for Download speed limit and choose a lower amount. We recommend midrange or lower MB/s. The lowest KB/s may not show significant improvement.
- Setting the options saves changes.
Send in logs in a ticket
If you continue to have issues, you may need to enter a ticket. Attach the following logs for faster help.

- A folder view opens. Attach log.log to your ticket/email reply.
- Navigate to the following location: (install drive):\Program Files\Roberts Space Industries\StarCitizen\LIVE
- Locate your "Game.log" file and attach it to your ticket/email reply.
