Technical Issues
Error 41013
We are receiving a number of reports from players that they are running into this error after trying to reconnect to the game. Our teams are looking into the root cause and will be working on a fix as soon as possible. In the meantime, please add your report about this issue, including what has and has not worked to resolve it, to this Issue Council report: STARC-182112
In the meantime, if you encounter this error a Character Repair can usually fix it, however this will likely cause your Personal Hangar to temporarily vanish. We are working on a way to mitigate this side effect and the error itself.
Error 19k, 30k, 60k, and infinite loading issues
We are aware of and currently tracking the 19k and other login related errors and the causes behind them. Our teams are actively investigating the cause and will have more information when available.
If you haven't already, please add information about your experience with these errors to relevant Issue Council reports, including what you have attempted that has allowed you to login, if applicable. Reporting both troubleshooting steps that have not worked as well as ones that have can be vital to helping our dev teams sort out the root cause of these frustrating problems.
In the meantime, try these troubleshooting steps:
Error 19k
We have a dedicated article covering this error and troubleshooting steps in-depth, located at:
Here are some quick summary troubleshooting steps to try while you're here.
- Many times this error is caused due to server and network load, which can only be resolved by time. Try back later to see if the issue resolves itself.
- Ensure that your system clock is correct. The Windows system clock can be synced up through the Time & Language system settings.
- For persistent 19k errors, double check that your game install is not corrupted by using the Verify game files option within the launcher.
- Double check that there is only one instance of the RSI Launcher running.
- Make certain that both the RSI Launcher and Star Citizen are whitelisted in any firewall or anti-virus/anti-malware programs.
- The files to whitelist are RSI Launcher.exe and StarCitizen.exe.
- Open a command prompt in administrator mode and then type ipconfig /flushdns to do a DNS flush to try to resolve certain home network issues.
Error 30k
- Many players have previously reported this error occurring after logging out (or crashing) in a ship or ship bed. If this happened to you, try doing a character repair.
- Double check that your computer meets the minimum system requirements to play Star Citizen. Of special note, the storage drive specs and space needed.
- Force quitting out of the game while in one of the tutorials may also place an account in a bad state that will result in receiving repeated 30k errors. Thus, do not quit the game during the tutorials!
- There have been a few reports from players that switching to installing the game on a faster SSD drive can sometimes solve this issue. If this is something that you can do, give it a shot.
- Try doing a DNS flush:
- Close all open programs and applications.
- Do a search for cmd or command prompt in the Windows search bar.
- Right click on the Command Prompt application and select Run as Administrator.
- in the command prompt program, type in: ipconfig /flushdns
- Wait for the message "Successfully flushed the DNS resolver cache" to appear.
- Try launching/installing the game again.
- Try changing your DNS server. Instructions can be found here.
Error 60010 / 60016 / 60012
After investigating a number of different reports, we've determined that this error is not displaying a message appropriate to the problem that is actually occurring for a majority of player accounts that are encountering this. We have found that this error can show up for players that have recently reclaimed their game package, but there are also other causes we are still investigating. A game package is required to access the game.
Check this article for information on how to check for your game packages to ensure that this is not the reason for this error: Missing a Game Package
We have reported the messaging issue to the proper teams for a fix and continue to investigate the other causes for this error. If you have additional information please report your findings on the Issue Council.
Error 60029 - Shard Locked
This error is thankfully rare, but unfortunately when it pops up for a player, it can be frustratingly persistent. We are investigating the cause and possible solutions to this issue.
Should you encounter this error, please exit both the RSI Launcher and the game, attempt a Character Repair, and stay offline for at least an hour to make sure everything has had a chance to sort itself out.
If this does not solve the issue, please gather your game information files and place a ticket to RSI Support for assistance. Properly labeling and being descriptive about the issue help us find and locate your ticket to get it to the proper people faster.
Error 64008 / 64010 - Spawn Resolver
This error has become more frequent since the recent patch and our teams are still investigating the cause. If you experience this issue, please report it on the Issue Council with as much information as you can provide, including any workarounds that allowed you to resolve it.
For now, we have seen players reporting some success with a Character Repair.
This generally takes around 30 minutes or more.
Error 60k (others)
We are still looking into the cause of these errors, the most common of which we are seeing reported being error 60030, 60015, and others. We have seen some reports of success by following the same troubleshooting steps for the 30k errors listed above, and others that will simply resolve themselves with time.
If all troubleshooting for these fails, please add to a relevant report to the Issue Council and send a ticket to our Tech Support Agents. Should you find any troubleshooting steps that do help resolve these, also consider adding to any current Issue Council reports on these errors as well! Successful troubleshooting can help both other players and our dev teams with resolving the problems.
Infinite Loading Screen
Check the more in depth steps on this article: Infinite Loading Screen
Potential Vulkan Issues
We have a specific article covering more general Vulkan issues which can be found at this link:
Vulkan Troubleshooting
Framerate Drops
We have received reports that players are experiencing a drop in frame rate (Frames Per Second or FPS) and video/graphics performance while playing Star Citizen. This particular performance issue seems to be linked to players using the Vulkan graphics API. This presents itself as a significant frame rate loss, with some players reporting FPS drops to as low as 10.
Should you encounter this while using the Vulkan graphics settings, try these steps to resolve it:
- Lower your video/screen resolution in game.
- Update your video card driver software.
- Switch to using DirectX or Direct 3D instead of Vulkan.
Game/Launcher Issues after a Server Crash
In the unfortunate event of a game server crash, players may encounter issues reconnecting to the game. This issue may present itself as an infinite loading screen or being unable to interact with the game menu.
If you encounter this issue, you will need to fully exit the game and restart to correct it.
Ship Issues
Rental Ships Are Not Showing in ASOP Terminals
We're aware of and are working on a fix for this ongoing issue, which we realize is quite frustrating to deal with. We have had reports from some players that, for whatever reason, doing a router restart and doing a DNS flush has shown some success in remedying this issue.
Certain Ships Do Not Despawn When Stored
In an act of defiance to your orders, we've found that certain ships will not despawn when they are on the hangar pad when a different ship is retrieved. Among the ships that have currently been identified to ignoring instructions to go away when stored in this manner are the Drake Ironclad and Ironclad Assault, and the Anvil Carrack, however it's possible other ships may be affected as well.
If any of these ships do not despawn when another ship is called from the ASOP terminal, selecting the offending ship and manually choosing to store it will send it away.
There is unfortunately no work around for this, however the issue has already been identified and will be addressed in an upcoming hotfix.
Drake Command Module Radar is Not Functioning
The radar MFD is a very important piece of equipment to have functioning correctly so pilots and captains can keep track of their surroundings. We've noted that the radar in the Drake Command Module is sometimes refusing to work, which is understandably not great.
If you encounter this, undock the Command Module from the host ship, and then redock. The radar should be functioning afterwards.
Some Ships Cannot Restock Missiles Inside Supply Ships
In a detriment to being able to help other players in the 'verse, we've discovered an issue where certain ships are unable to restock their weapons while inside another ship that offers landing services of that type. Specifically, this is happening to ships that only have laser-based weapons.
Teams are already looking into ways to hotfix this issue in the future, however there is currently no workaround for this. Ships that encounter this will need to restock at a station.
Salvaging Audio is Looping Continuously
When participating in the time honored activity of salvaging, we've noted an issue where the audio from salvaging parts will loop continuously, reaching a volume that might rival that of roadside construction crews jack hammering the pavement. This keening symphony of sound will continue even if the ship is powered down.
Unfortunately, the only solution to fix this is to restart the game.
Unexpected Components Can Catch Fire
Patch 7.4 brings with it some new Engineering gameplay involving ship systems, but there has been some unexpected observations by our teams when testing things out! While shield components are expected to have some flammability problems if they are damaged, other system components should be safe from catching ablaze for the time being.
At this time we've noted the coolers on the Corsair and Asgard may be more flammable than intended, along with the quantum drive of the Cutter, but it's highly likely not contained to just these ships and components. If encountered in other ships beyond these, please report this on the Issue Council.
There is no workaround for this issue.
Waking Up in the Mercury Star Runner Ejects You Into Space*
*Assuming you had logged out away from a landing zone or space port.
In a new adventure in strangeness, like grenades landing at your feet when thrown, in this case we've found an issue where players that have logged out from their bed inside a Mercury Star Runner will encounter a potentially dangerous situation when they log back in. Upon getting out of bed after logging in, the player will end up on the wrong side of the bed and get shunted through the ship's hull, which can potentially eject them directly into space depending on where the ship is.
Until this strange quirk has been resolved, we recommend you do not logout using the bed in the Mercury Star Runner.
Idris Shields Don't Stop Laser Weapons
Ship shields are very important for surviving and continuing one's exploration of the 'verse, thus we should expect that they actually function for deflecting incoming attacks. In the case of the Idris-P, the shields do not block laser weapons, with the sole exception of the Panther Repeaters.
This is obviously not intended behavior, but unfortunately there is not a workaround for this issue at this time. A fix is planned for a future patch.
Naming a Ship Deletes Equipped Items
The chance to customize a ship in one's fleet is a big draw for many. However in some cases, such as naming a ship, any items that were equipped or otherwise added to the ship will get deleted after the name change has been completed. Ideally, such items and kits should be returned to the player's inventory in some fashion instead of vanishing into the void.
To prevent this from happening, remove any non-stock items and customization before naming your ship. This is has also been called out on the Ship Naming Guide.
Ships are Unable to Activate the Quantum Interdiction Device
For those pilots attempting to go out and use their fancy interdiction device, it seems that they may find that activating it does nothing. Our teams are already looking into the cause of this.
There is no workaround for this issue at this time.
Velocity Limiters Result in Ships Losing Thrust
While flying about the 'Verse, pilots that are making use of the velocity limiter functions to fine tune their piloting and speed might suddenly find them slowing down to a stop. While this is indeed limiting velocity, this is not how it is supposed to work if a player is also trying to use thrusters to move forward.
If this occurs, pilots will need to release, and repress the key to reengage thrusters on their ship (default key is W).
Hull-A is Spawning with Cargo Spindles Partially Extended
If for some reason a player stores his Hull-A with the ship's cargo spindles in any other position than closed, whenever the ship is retrieved to a hangar the spindles will still be in whichever position they were in before. This can result in the spindles having no interaction options and thus become generally unusuable.
To avoid this situation, do not store your Hull-A until the spindles have been fully retracted.
Location Issues
Players Get Stuck If they Jump Over Railings at Levski
As an example of why the railings are there in the first place, there are places in Levski where players are able to jump over them, which results in them getting stuck and unable to get out. One of the locations this happens is near the ASOP terminals. After a player gets into this location, they will have no other way out but to force respawn.
The workaround for this is pretty simple: Don't jump over the railings. As a reminder, RSI Support cannot assist with restoring any items that may be lost due to bugs or other gameplay, be it normal or abnormal.
Storing a Ship Results in an Error at Area18
Upon arriving at Area18, players that try to store a ship at an ASOP terminal inside a hangar may become stuck in a "Repositioning Player" state. Unfortunately while this is happening the usual methods to escape this, such as backspace and forced respawn, are unresponsive.
If you end up in this state, the only solution is to exit to the main menu and then rejoin the game.
Lorville Trams from Metro Centre to Teasa Spaceport Can Kill the Player
Transit in the 'verse has always been in a strange state at times, and this is no different. When using the trams to go from the Metro Centre to Teasa Spaceport at Lorville, the doors and parts of the tram spin for a moment. If the player is close enough to them while this is happening, this can result in the player being yeeted out of tram and potentially out of bounds, which may result in death! This only seems to be occurring on this specific route.
The only way to avoid this is to move far enough away from the doors after entering the tram on this route.
Visiting Players are Sent Under the Station when Hangar Owner Leaves
Levski has made a triumphant return after a long absence, and understandably people are wanting to visit the place and the surrounding system. When gathering with friends to do this, beware of remaining behind in someone else's hangar! If you are inside someone else's hangar at Levski and the owner leaves, you will be sent under the station!
There is no workaround for this issue, so remember to exit your friends' hangar before they do.
Keycard Printer Timers Are Not Working
Various maintenance and security keycard printers around the 'verse are revolting. Aside from them likely needing to be cleaned and sanitized, the timers they display for their various functions, such as how long it will take to print a keycard and the time until they can next print a keycard, they are refusing to show the proper time. An affected printer will show a time of 00:00 which will not change.
To fix this, force quit the game (Alt F4) and then log back in at which point the timers will show the proper cooldowns.
Klescher Prison Timers Are Resetting
After doing a crime (or several) and ending up in the Klescher Rehabilitation Facility, players have reported that they are discovering that their sentence in prison is getting reset during various instances. It's been observed that the sentence is resetting if a player dies while in prison or logs out and then back into the game before their sentence is completed. We're examining a fix for this in a future patch.
In order to avoid this prison timer reset, avoid committing further infractions while incarcerated or manually logout and remain offline until the full sentence has passed.
Hangars Have No Audio
Though entering a personal hangar has all the expected ambiance and sounds, entering other hangars presents some eerie silence. Though this does remove some audio cues, certain things like ship thrusters will still have sound effects.
There is no workaround for this issue.
Repair/Refuel/Restock is Not Available at Service Locations
Upon arriving at a station to repair, refuel, and/or restock your ship, upon opening the mobiGlas these options will not appear. After checking into everything, this seems to be a delay and the services should show up after some time has passed and hangar doors have closed. Once that has happened, closing and reopening the mobiGlas should let the services options show up.
The Landing Services mobiGlas App Does Not Update
When coming in for a landing and readying your ship and everything on it for other things, the Landing Services app in the mobiGlas seems to not register that the ship has landed. This of course results in not being able to do anything else like restocking your supplies and such.
We have found that this is due to a delay in the services app being ready for use. Our teams are working on a fix for this issue for a future patch.
To work around this problem if you encounter it, allow several minutes to pass after landing and then close and re-open the Landing Services mobiGlass app.
Players May Get Unceremoniously Removed from Friend's Hangars
After inviting a friend into your party and then to your hangar, if your friend attempts to enter the hangar first, they will fall through the elevator and end up in the spaceport, unable to move and invisible. A player in this state will not be able to do anything, including force respawn their character. This has been seen to happen most frequently after the servers have recovered from a crash.
To resolve this issue should you end up in this state, exit the game and login again.
Inventory and Item Issues
Items Are Missing After the Patch
Players returning to the 'verse after alpha patch 4.8 has gone to LIVE servers may find that items earned in-game from before said patch are missing. This is intended.
To read more about why, please see this Spectrum post.
Certain Pledge Items Are Not Being Attributed
We've become aware of and are working on a fix for an issue involving certain pledge items that are not showing up for players in game. These appear to be non-ship or vehicle pledges like paint, modules, flair, and FPS weapons and equipment among others.
We do not have a time frame for a fix, but it is currently being worked on by our teams.
Mining Gadgets Cannot Be Placed While in EVA Mode
Mining and resource gathering is an excellent way to make some extra aUEC while about in the 'verse. Currently, however, we have noted some troubles with some of the special mining gadgets that players can use to assist with mining asteroids. These particular gadgets are unable to be placed while the player is in EVA mode.
There is no workaround for this issue.
Work Orders Cannot Be Started At Mining Kiosks
We have received some reports that attempting to initiate a work order at a Refinery Kiosk sometimes does not function properly. When encountering this issues, attempting to initiate a work order at these kiosks will result in the quotation section of the work order page vanishing and the work order failing to initiate.
These failed work orders seem to only occur when trying to initiate a work order from your resources that are on a stored ship. Transferring the ore pods to local inventory before attempting the work order is still functioning normally.
Various Inventory Items Are Missing After a Patch
After logging into the game for the first time after a patch, some players may discover that their inventory is not as they left it. While in some cases it's only a few things gained towards the very tail end of the patch before servers were brought down, in many cases we have seen the losses be much more extensive. This is one of the most incredibly frustrating issues that a player can encounter.
For players that have experienced this issue, the best and most helpful thing to do is to report their situation and any other information they have on the Issue Council. In this case, reports should be added to this IC report: STARC-194626
It's best if you include as much relevant info as you can, including if you manage to recover your lost items. Unfortunately, there is not much that RSI Support can do to assist with resolving these issues, which is why it's important that as much info as possible is submitted to the Issue Council to help our developer teams hone in on the root of the problem.
Unexplained Asphyxiation or Encumbrance and Movement Issues
A strange issue from before has returned, which involves a player have two helmets equipped on their character. One is in the hip attachment slot, and the other is in the helmet slot. Players in this situation will notice strange health issues, such as increased heart rate and eventually asphyxiation from lack of air. The symptoms will also present as the inability to walk fast or sprint due to the breathing and heart rate problems.
To fix this, remove the second helmet that you have equipped.
Certain Turrets Break if Removed After Being Equipped
To the surprise of owners of certain turrets turret, we have seen instances of these turret disassembling itself into various component parts after being equipped and then unequipped from a compatible ship. Thus far, we've noted the TMSB-5 turret for MK2 Hornets and IFR-BC7/IFR-MS7 turrets for the Idris. Once removed after being equipped, what ends up in your inventory is either a collection of parts or a turret that is missing essential pieces. Understandably these will not help shoot at things.
To avoid this, do not equip or swap to these turrets. Should the turret be equipped anyway, then an insurance claim on the ship it came with should fix it.
Items Vanish when Swapping Armor via Looting
In the event that a player finds their inventory full, when looting yet more things they can't carry and swapping armor they find through the looting interface any items that can't fit in their inventory will vanish instead of dropping to the floor. Most cases that have been seen happen when attempting to switch from a heavy or medium armor to a light set via the loot window.
There is no workaround for this issue, aside from doing one's best to keep their inventory clean and tidy.
Assets mobiGlas App Gets Stuck Loading
The Assets app in the mobiGlas is very useful for keeping track of where a player's items and other assets are located. Unfortunately, players trying to load it will encounter an issue where the game shows its trying to load up the information but it never finishes doing so.
There is unfortunately no work around for this issue.
Weapon Attachments Cannot be Interacted With
If a weapon attachment is dropped on the floor/ground while out and about in the 'Verse, it becomes impossible to interact with the attachment. The result is that dropping an attachment means it is functionally gone and it's now attached to that location in the world instead. Our teams are working on a fix for this so that players can pick up after themselves.
Until interact-ability is returned to attachments out in the world, players should avoid dropping weapon attachments as they will become scenery. It is still possible to interact with weapon attachments while kept in various inventory spaces.
RSI Support is not able to assist with recovering weapon attachments lost in this manner, so don't litter.
Mission Issues
Exiting the Game Client Wipes Mission History
When a player exits the game client to go and do other things, upon return and loading back into the game they will find that their mission history is blank. This is thankfully only a visual and information issue and you will still have credit for any missions that were fully completed before logging out from the previous play session.
"Evict Illegal Occupants" Derelict Outpost Mission Target NPCs are not Spawning
After accepting the mission to remove the occupants, players are arriving to find that said occupants are not present. Maybe they got word ahead of time and decided to leave beforehand, but regardless of the reason without occupants to "remove" the missions cannot be completed.
There is currently no workaround for this.
No Tresspass Warning when Accessing an Underground Facility
If a player wanders into an Underground Facility when they do not have permission to be there, the player will not receive any trespassing warnings. Should a player turn in all their missions for the area, they should have 15 minutes to leave before the guards become hostile.
To prevent an unexpected death, don't linger in an Underground Facility if you have no reason to be there.
Mission Targets for the "Repel Raid on Orision" Mission are not Spawning
When going out on a mission, one does expect to be able to find the targets of said mission to complete it for glory and taking stuff. However in this case, the hostile targets that are the subject of the "Repel Raid on Orision" mission never appear. This of course results in mission failure.
There is currently no workaround for this. Until this has been fixed, we advise against accepting this mission at all as failing/abandoning it will cause a hit to your reputation with Crusader Security.
Arena Commander
Several Loadout Options are Missing
When playing the various game modes in Arena Commander, the ability to customize one's chosen ship is important for succeeding in the various trials. Despite this, it appears that there are several customization options that are missing in the Arena Commander ship loadout interface compared to what is available in the PU. Notably, there is no way to customize flight blades. Some may see that as a plus, but none the less, the option should be there.
There is no workaround for this issue, but a fix is planned for a future patch.
Unable to Enter Game Modes
It is possible for the Arena Commander user interface (UI) to get into a state where it is impossible to enter any game mode. This generally occurs if any UI element aside from "DEPLOY" is selected. It will remain in this state until the player leaves and then re-enters the Arena Commander interface.
To avoid this from happening, players can either do nothing but select "DEPLOY" or choose a ship and then spam click the "DEPLOY" button.
Other Issues
Opening/Closing the Starmap Causes Framerate Drop
Like it suggests, while in game, opening and closing the starmap can cause some significant framerate drops. This can cause some troubles if you are in the middle of something that requires attention to detail or may impact your personal safety, like combat.
There is unfortunately no workaround for this issue.
Select System Menu is Empty
In rare cases the option to select a system to begin playing is totally missing from the game's main menu screen for entering the Persistent Universe. Should this occur, the most common cause is missing a game package. Normally this should be caught at the launcher if you are using the latest version of the RSI Launcher, but steps to check if this is the case can be found at this page.
If you do have a game package, completely close both the game and the RSI Launcher and wait a few minutes before restarting the application. Ensure the tasks are completely ended in the Windows Task Manager as well.
Should the restart not work, ensure that any extra security programs that might be interfering with the connection are disabled or you have whitelisted the RSI Launcher in the relevant settings. Examples of these are the NordVPN Web Protect feature or some anti-virus/anti-malware programs. A few players have reported that totally restarting their computer has helped.
If you encounter this and cannot resolve it, please consider adding your report to the Issue Council so we can work towards sorting out the root cause of the troubles.
