Technical Issues
Error 19k, 30k, 60k, and infinite loading issues
We are aware of and currently tracking the 19k and other login related errors and the causes behind them. Our teams are actively investigating the cause and will have more information when available.
If you haven't already, please add information about your experience with these errors to relevant Issue Council reports, including what you have attempted that has allowed you to login, if applicable. Reporting both troubleshooting steps that have not worked as well as ones that have can be vital to helping our dev teams sort out the root cause of these frustrating problems.
In the meantime, try these troubleshooting steps:
Error 19k
- Sometimes this error is caused due to server and network load, which can only be resolved by time. Try back later to see if the issue resolves itself.
- For persistent 19k errors, double check that your game install is not corrupted by using the Verify game files option within the launcher.
- Double check that there is only one instance of the RSI Launcher running.
Error 30k
- Many players have previously reported this error occurring after logging out (or crashing) in a ship or ship bed. If this happened to you, try doing a character repair.
- Double check that your computer meets the minimum system requirements to play Star Citizen. Of special note, the storage drive specs and space needed.
- Force quitting out of the game while in one of the tutorials may also place an account in a bad state that will result in receiving repeated 30k errors. Thus, do not quit the game during the tutorials!
- There have been a few reports from players that switching to installing the game on a faster SSD drive can sometimes solve this issue. If this is something that you can do, give it a shot.
- Try doing a DNS flush:
- Close all open programs and applications.
- Do a search for cmd or command prompt in the Windows search bar.
- Right click on the Command Prompt application and select Run as Administrator.
- in the command prompt program, type in: ipconfig /flushdns
- Wait for the message "Successfully flushed the DNS resolver cache" to appear.
- Try launching/installing the game again.
- Try changing your DNS server. Instructions can be found here.
Error 60016
After investigating a number of different reports, we've determined that this error is not displaying a message appropriate to the problem that is actually occurring for a majority of player accounts that are encountering this. We have found that this error can show up for players that have recently reclaimed their game package, but there are also other causes we are still investigating. A game package is required to access the game.
Check this article for information on how to check for your game packages to ensure that this is not the reason for this error: Missing a Game Package
We have reported the messaging issue to the proper teams for a fix and continue to investigate the other causes for this error.
Error 60k (others)
We are still looking into the cause of these errors, the most common of which we are seeing reported being error 60030, 60015, and others. We have seen some reports of success by following the same troubleshooting steps for the 30k errors listed above, and others that will simply resolve themselves with time.
If all troubleshooting for these fails, please add to a relevant report to the Issue Council and send a ticket to our Tech Support Agents. Should you find any troubleshooting steps that do help resolve these, also consider adding to any current Issue Council reports on these errors as well! Successful troubleshooting can help both other players and our dev teams with resolving the problems.
Infinite Loading Screen

Potential Vulkan Performance Issue
We have received reports that players are experiencing a drop in frame rate (Frames Per Second or FPS) and video/graphics performance while playing Star Citizen. This particular performance issue seems to be linked to players using the Vulkan graphics API. This presents itself as a significant frame rate loss, with some players reporting FPS drops to as low as 10.
Should you encounter this while using the Vulkan graphics settings, try these steps to resolve it:
- Lower your video/screen resolution in game.
- Update your video card driver software.
- Switch to using DirectX or Direct 3D instead of Vulkan.
Error 0 / Code 0
This is an issue related to Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC) and we are investigating the cause. In the meantime, to correct this, follow these steps:
- Delete the EAC folder located in the Roberts Space Industries\StarCitizen\LIVE folder.
- Fully close the RSI Launcher. Use the task bar and/or the task manager to ensure the process is killed if need be.
- Re-open the RSI Launcher
- Select the LIVE game environment from the drop down above the PLAY (or UPDATE) button.
- After LIVE has been selected, click the cog wheel next to the dropdown.
- Select Verify game files.
Allow this process to finish. If this does not correct the issue, consider totally uninstalling the game and all related files for a fresh install to ensure all files are correct.
Game/Launcher Issues after a Server Crash
In the unfortunate event of a game server crash, players may encounter issues reconnecting to the game. This issue may present itself as an infinite loading screen or being unable to interact with the game menu.
If you encounter this issue, you will need to fully exit the game and restart to correct it.
Ship Issues
Ground Vehicles Have No Power to Engines by Default
When powering on one's rover, one would expect that it would be set and ready to...well, start roving. In this case, when starting up a ground vehicle the engines do not have any power allotted to them by default.
Players will need to manually add power pips to the engines in the Power Management MFD for the vehicle to be drive-able. A fix for this will be implemented in a future patch.
Ship Power Levels Randomly Power Down
Similar to the vehicle power problem above, except that when operating a ship sometimes the power allocations will randomly drop to zero. This is, understandably, frustrating and not how this should be working.
As above, players can manually allocate power pips within the Power Management MFD, or alternately store and retrieve the ship again.
Ships Inside Another Ship Can Be Left Behind during Quantum Travel
Having a big ship comes with some perks, like being able to serve as a carrier for another ship to save on fuel costs for the smaller one. However we've identified an issue where a ship being carried this way by another may vanish during quantum travel. This generally happens if the ship is also traversing across a server boundary.
While not a guarantee, ensuring that the passenger ship is fully within the hangar of the larger one and away from hangar doors might keep it from vanishing mid transit.
Starfarer Pilots Cannot Accept Payments for Refueling
When attempting to do ship-to-ship refueling from a Starfarer, the pilot may find that they cannot accept payments from the other player. This results in being unable to start the refueling process altogether.
There is unfortunately no work around for this issue, though we are aiming to fix this is a soon as possible.
Ships are Unable to Activate the Quantum Interdiction Device
For those pilots attempting to go out and use their fancy interdiction device, it seems that they may find that activating it does nothing. Our teams are already looking into the cause of this.
There is no workaround for this issue at this time.
Velocity Limiters Result in Ships Losing Thrust
While flying about the 'Verse, pilots that are making use of the velocity limiter functions to fine tune their piloting and speed might suddenly find them slowing down to a stop. While this is indeed limiting velocity, this is not how it is supposed to work if a player is also trying to use thrusters to move forward.
If this occurs, pilots will need to release, and repress the key to reengage thrusters on their ship (default key is W).
Ships May Randomly Explode at Low Altitude or Entering Atmosphere
We are investigating reports that ships may be exploding randomly when they are flying over a planet surface at low altitude. At other times, it might explode when entering the atmosphere. There have been several reports from racers encountering this.
To help us target and solve this, should you encounter this issue please gather any relevant information (such as ship used, location, etc.) and add your information and experience using this link: STARC-106280
The Reliant cannot change flight modes
An issue has been identified where the Reliant is currently unable to switch its wing configuration or go into a vertical flight mode. This is currently affecting all variants of the ship. A fix is in the works for a future patch to resolve this issue with the ship.
Until the fix is live, we will be issuing all Reliant owners an Avenger Titan loaner to use for the time being.
An Impounded Hull-C is Respawning with Cargo Spindles Extended
In the situation where a player has for some reason had their Hull-C impounded while it had its cargo spindles extended, when it is recalled and retrieved from the impounded state, the cargo spindles will still be extended. If the ship is retrieved in a hangar, this can result in the ship jittering around, crashing, possibly exploding, and otherwise be unable to be moved should it remain intact.
To avoid this situation, do not leave your Hull-C unattended or store it with its spindles extended.
Other Hull-C Issues
During testing phases, our teams and testers have encountered a number of issues that may be affecting the Hull-C, which range from strange error messages, problems with cargo loading or unloading, among others.
If you encounter any troubles with this ship, please report it on the Issue Council so that we can gather data and make this ship the best it can be.
Hull-A is Spawning with Cargo Spindles Partially Extended
If for some reason a player stores his Hull-A with the ship's cargo spindles in any other position than closed, whenever the ship is retrieved to a hangar the spindles will still be in whichever position they were in before. This can result in the spindles having no interaction options and thus become generally unusuable.
To avoid this situation, do not store your Hull-A until the spindles have been fully retracted.
Vehicle Inventory is Inaccessible
While the necessary interaction points are present, the ability to enter and utilize vehicle inventories does not seem to function. Unfortunately, there is no work around for this issue at the moment, but a fix is already in the works for a future patch.
Location Issues
Ship Components are Destroyed After Quantum Travel at Pyro V
When choosing a Quantum Travel point around Pyro V, the orbital markers above the planet are all appearing as option, regardless of whether or not the planet itself is between you and said marker. Selecting one of these points will cause the quantum travel to go through the planet, which will destroy most ship components and stranding the ship and its passengers.
To avoid this, ensure the destination you chose is not directing you through the planet.
Repair/Refuel/Restock is Not Available at Service Locations
Upon arriving at a station to repair, refuel, and/or restock your ship, upon opening the mobiGlas these options will not appear. After checking into everything, this seems to be a delay and the services should show up after some time has passed and hangar doors have closed. Once that has happened, closing and reopening the mobiGlas should let the services options show up.
Fuses Cannot Be Placed in Doors
In Pyro, there are certain places where players need to replace a fuse in a door to progress. In certain cases the fuse cannot be placed in the appropriate interaction slot, which prevents moving forward past this task.
We have seen some instances where players can use a tractor beam to attach the fuse to the appropriate slot, but it is not a guarantee that this will always work if this issues is encountered.
Power Regulators Have No Interaction Points
When attempting to place a server blade into a power regulator at some asteroid bases, players will find that there is no interaction options to do so. We are looking to possibly fix this in a future patch, but for the moment there is no way to bypass this issue.
The Landing Services mobiGlas App Does Not Update
When coming in for a landing and readying your ship and everything on it for other things, the Landing Services app in the mobiGlas seems to not register that the ship has landed. This of course results in not being able to do anything else like restocking your supplies and such.
We have found that this is due to a delay in the services app being ready for use. Our teams are working on a fix for this issue for a future patch.
To work around this problem if you encounter it, allow several minutes to pass after landing and then close and re-open the Landing Services mobiGlass app.
ASOP Terminal Displays Ship Status as "Unknown"
In certain cases after landing at a hangar, the ship that just landed will be showing the "Unknown" status within the ASOP terminal. Should a player logout after this occurs, they may find themselves back at the location they previously departed. The only way to recover use of the ship is to file an insurance claim.
There is some evidence that this happens if a pilot enters a hangar to land after the hangar doors have started to close. Once you are cleared to land with ATC, do your best to enter the hangar and land as speedily as you can.
Players in Hangars Can Hear Sounds from Other Player's Hangars
While it might be funny to eavesdrop on things happening in other people's hangars from your own, in this case, it includes so many sounds, alarms, and other things that it can turn into a painful cacophony of noise. Our teams are working on a fix for this.
While there is no workaround for this, we are looking into possible options to prevent the deafening noise until a true fix for this is found, tested, and implemented. Alternately, players can turn down their speaker/headset volume before entering a personal hangar to mitigate the effects.
Players May Get Unceremoniously Removed from Friend's Hangars
After inviting a friend into your party and then to your hangar, if your friend attempts to enter the hangar first, they will fall through the elevator and end up in the spaceport, unable to move and invisible. A player in this state will not be able to do anything, including force respawn their character. This has been seen to happen most frequently after the servers have recovered from a crash.
To resolve this issue should you end up in this state, exit the game and login again.
Player is Teleported Back to Hospital Repeatedly
After respawning into a medical bed after death, it is possible that a player may get stuck in a loop where they are teleported back to the medical bed where they recently respawned. This has been reported most often at Orison, but is not exclusive to that location. As a result of this teleporting, it leaves the player unable to do anything for more than a few minutes at a time before they are ported back to the medical bed.
Unfortunately, there is no clear and reliable work around, though a character reset sometimes has an affect of freeing the character, but not consistently.
To help us track down the cause of this very problematic bug, if you have experienced this - even if the problem has fixed itself somehow - please add any information you may have to this Issue Council report: STARC-112051
Be certain to include as much information as possible, including any steps that were taken to try to resolve it, where you were, and what you were doing before ending up in the medical bed to respawn.
Grim Hex Turrets may Fire on Players with a Crime Stat
For the criminals out there attempting to seek some downtime, Grim Hex is usually the place to go. However the port's turrets seem to be firing on players that have committed crimes elsewhere just before arriving at Grim Hex. Generally, this should not be happening unless you have angered Grim Hex itself.
There is not a workaround for this currently, but most reports seem to indicate that doing a crime at Kareah right before quantum traveling to Grim Hex causes this to happen most often. If you can do it quickly enough, you can still request to land and will be assigned a hangar. Move quickly if you can?
Personal Medium-sized Hangars have Broken Elevators
When attempting to enter or exit a medium-sized personal hangar, the elevator to access is grayed out, leaving the owner stranded outside. A fix is already being worked on for a future patch.
In the meantime, as a workaround for this, players that would normally be assigned a medium-sized hangar will be granted access to the next size up (large) until this is resolved.
Client Crash around Lorville
We have investigated reports and confirmed a game client crash that can occur in the Lorville area of the game. This is related to graphics issues and can be solved by updating your video card drivers.
Graphics cards typically come with software to help manage driver updates, but if for some reason you have decided not to use those, you will need to head to the website for your video card manufacturer and download/install the most recent driver update from there.
Issues with Shuttles, Trains, Trams, and Elevators
We have seen and verified reports for various issues with certain options for player transit, like trams, shuttles, and elevators. This can present itself from the tram or elevator flickering or appearing jittery to shuttles not arriving on time. While not common, there are also reports of players falling through the floor to their death unexpectedly.
A fix for many of these issues is planned for a future patch, but additional reports of issues to help document problems and locate new ones is always appreciated on the Issue Council.
Inventory and Item Issues
NikNax mobiGlas App Gets Stuck Loading
The NikNax app in the mobiGlas is very useful for keeping track of where a player's items and other assets are located. Unfortunately, players trying to load it will encounter an issue where the game shows its trying to load up the information but it never finishes doing so.
There is unfortunately no work around for this issue.
Tractor Beams are Vanishing After a Game Update
Our teams have identified a long-term persistence issue where certain items will not persist between patches and other game build updates. In this case, it is tractor beams. We're examining options for fixes to resolve this as soon as possible.
There is no workaround for this issue. If your tractor beam has vanished, you will need to purchase a new one. RSI Support Agents are not able to replace them.
Certain Weapons Do Not Display Visuals on Impact
Destruction and feedback for doing said destruction is sometimes a necessary part of the game. In this case, we have found that some weapons are not display the effects of impacting something like terrain or a wall after they are fired. It might cause an attacking player to think the weapon missed or didn't detonate.
This appears to be a visual effects issue and the weapons should still be functioning as they should otherwise.
Unexplained Encumbrance and Movement Issues
There have also been several reports of players experiencing general encumbrance issues, that are also presenting as a high heart rate and being unable to sprint or walk quickly. If it is not related to the double helmet bug mentioned above, then it seems to be related to a strange inventory issue with certain cargo boxes and equipment.
Should you experience this annoying issue, please head to the Issue Council and add your information (even if you already solved it) to this IC post: STARC-108988
In the meantime, if your character enters this state, dying outside of an armistice area may correct the issue. Check that it is not the double helmet issue above first. Be certain to put things you don't want to lose into storage before doing this, otherwise some other jerk may come take your stuff!
Weapon Attachments Cannot be Interacted With
If a weapon attachment is dropped on the floor/ground while out and about in the 'Verse, it becomes impossible to interact with the attachment. The result is that dropping an attachment means it is functionally gone and it's now attached to that location in the world instead. Our teams are working on a fix for this so that players can pick up after themselves.
Until interact-ability is returned to attachments out in the world, players should avoid dropping weapon attachments as they will become scenery. It is still possible to interact with weapon attachments while kept in various inventory spaces.
RSI Support is not able to assist with recovering weapon attachments lost in this manner, so don't litter.
Mission Issues
Exiting the Game Client Wipes Mission History
When a player exits the game client to go and do other things, upon return and loading back into the game they will find that their mission history is blank. This is thankfully only a visual and information issue and you will still have credit for any missions that were fully completed before logging out from the previous play session.
The New Player Experience (NPE or Tutorial) Does Not Work at Area18
After selecting Area18 as their starting location and then electing to go through the NPE to find one's footing within the game, players are indeed dropped into Area18 but the missions for the NPE are not active.
Until this is resolved, if players wish to do the tutorial missions they should select a starting location other than Area18.
"Evict Illegal Occupants" Derelict Outpost Mission Target NPCs are not Spawning
After accepting the mission to remove the occupants, players are arriving to find that said occupants are not present. Maybe they got word ahead of time and decided to leave beforehand, but regardless of the reason without occupants to "remove" the missions cannot be completed.
There is currently no workaround for this.
No Tresspass Warning when Accessing an Underground Facility
If a player wanders into an Underground Facility when they do not have permission to be there, the player will not receive any trespassing warnings. Should a player turn in all their missions for the area, they should have 15 minutes to leave before the guards become hostile.
To prevent an unexpected death, don't linger in an Underground Facility if you have no reason to be there.
Mission Targets for the "Repel Raid on Orision" Mission are not Spawning
When going out on a mission, one does expect to be able to find the targets of said mission to complete it for glory and taking stuff. However in this case, the hostile targets that are the subject of the "Repel Raid on Orision" mission never appear. This of course results in mission failure.
There is currently no workaround for this. Until this has been fixed, we advise against accepting this mission at all as failing/abandoning it will cause a hit to your reputation with Crusader Security.
Missions Abandoned after Server Crash
An unfortunate side effect of a game being in a testing state like Star Citizen, sometimes server crashes are an occurrence that will rear its head once in a while. After this happens, players that return to the game may find that their previous missions have all been marked as "abandoned". There is unfortunately no way around this happening at the moment.
This is not intended but there are plans in the works to fix this in the near future. A mission that is abandoned in this matter will not affect your reputation.
Arena Commander
Players May Be Sent Back to the Deploy Screen
When attempting to play Pirate Swarm, on occasion the game sends the player back to the "Deploy" screen when the game start timer finishes the countdown.
Should this happen, hitting the "Deploy" button again will allow you to play the game normally.
Unable to Enter Game Modes
It is possible for the Arena Commander user interface (UI) to get into a state where it is impossible to enter any game mode. This generally occurs if any UI element aside from "DEPLOY" is selected. It will remain in this state until the player leaves and then re-enters the Arena Commander interface.
To avoid this from happening, players can either do nothing but select "DEPLOY" or choose a ship and then spam click the "DEPLOY" button.
Friendlies are Showing as Enemies
If any game mode is selected that involves friendly units such as any mode involving team play, the friendly units in the battlespace will be showing as enemies. Firing upon your teammates will results in getting kicked from the match for friendly fire.
Unfortunately, there is no work around for this. If possible, check who your teammates are and try to avoid firing on them if you wish to play one of the game modes affected by this.
Other Issues
Select System Menu is Empty
In rare cases the option to select a system to begin playing is totally missing from the game's main menu screen for entering the Persistent Universe. Should this occur, the most common cause is missing a game package. Normally this should be caught at the launcher if you are using the latest version of the RSI Launcher, but steps to check if this is the case can be found at this page.
If you do have a game package, completely close both the game and the RSI Launcher and wait a few minutes before restarting the application. Ensure the tasks are completely ended in the Windows Task Manager as well.
Should the restart not work, ensure that any extra security programs that might be interfering with the connection are disabled or you have whitelisted the RSI Launcher in the relevant settings. Examples of these are the NordVPN Web Protect feature or some anti-virus/anti-malware programs. A few players have reported that totally restarting their computer has helped.
If you encounter this and cannot resolve it, please consider adding your report to the Issue Council so we can work towards sorting out the root cause of the troubles.
