Cloud Imperium Games (CIG) has now added the ability to easily set up an RSI Account through the use of a 3rd party account that is associated with certain other online services. This makes the ability to both enlist with us and login quite easy! For right now, players can create an RSI Account or link an existing one through authentication via their Google or Twitch accounts.
Doing this is quite easy: Simply click the appropriate account icon where seen on any login prompt. You will then be asked to authenticate the login through a secure window.

Below is some additional information for addressing some account management actions and issues with these accounts.
Link an Existing RSI Account
This can be done through the LINKED ACCOUNTS option in your RSI Account Settings page. The settings page can be reached through your Account Dashboard.

There are a number of account actions that require an additional security prompt in order to complete, which in this case is the current RSI Account password. This is to safeguard both your personal information as well as the contents of your account.
The problem here arises with RSI Accounts that were not created with us, but through using an authentication link through another 3rd party account. In this case, we do not have the account password since it is using a 3rd party authentication to login! The actions that require an RSI Password are:
- Changing an account handle.
- Upgrading a pledge.
- Reclaiming a pledge.
- Sending a gift to another player.
To be able to do this, the account must have a password set within our systems.
Setting an RSI Password
If your account was created through a 3rd party account link (Google or Twitch), follow these steps to set an RSI Password for your account.
- Login to the RSI Website using your 3rd party account authentication.
- Click on your Account Icon in the upper right.
- Select Account Dashboard from the Account Summary panel that opens.
- Click on the Settings option from the dashboard.
- Select SECURITY from the list on the left.
- You will be prompted to enter a password or authenticate through a linked account service. Select the option for your linked account.
- Click the edit button and set a password.
- You will be sent a Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) code via your linked 3rd party account email address. Retrieve the code and enter it to complete the password change.
After this point, you can use this new password that was set to complete any of the account actions listed above.
